Axel Markner took his first steps in Martial Arts in 1967 when he started with Judo.

Later on he took lessons in Karate-Do and Traditional Taekwon-Do under Grandmaster Jürgen Paterok, 8th DAN Traditional Taekwon-Do, 7th DAN Karate-Do, who has been teaching him since 1975.

Since 1980 Axel has been working as a trainer and since 1991, after he took further education, he got the licence as a teacher in Traditional Taekwon-Do and Karate-Do.
For a couple of years now he is also working as a trainer in kickboxing an boxing in various clubs in the northern part of Germany.

Axel Markner was one of the founders of Internationale Taekwon-Do und Budosport Föderation - Deutschland e.V. in 1985.

1986 to 1989 Axel lived in Southeast Asia in order to study Martial Arts. During this time he also worked as assistant under Grandmaster Jürgen Paterok in the Philippines, most of the time he lived with Grandmaster Paterok and since 1995 Axel lives with Grandmaster Paterok in the same house in Germany to study intensive Martial Arts.

Since 1990 Axel is a member of the board of directors of Internationale Taekwon-Do und Budosport Föderation - Deutschland e.V.

He has the 4th DAN in Traditional Taekwon-Do, 4th DAN in Korean Karate and 2nd DAN in Shotokan Karate and he has been practicing TAEKIDO since 1995.
The Global Taekwon-Do Federation recognized his rank in Traditional Taekwon-Do also.

2001 Professional Trainer for boxing (Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer e.V.)

2001 Karate Instructor Diploma (DKV)

2002 Trainer A licence for Karate-Do (DKV)

Since 2003 studying at the Instructor-academy in Cologne to become Diploma-Instructor.

Since 2004 President of Internationale Taekwon-Do und Budosport Föderation - Deutschland e.V.

Since 1978 Axel has been competing in championships and tournaments regularly, especially during his stay in Asia. He competed in a couple of full contact tournaments and championships. Two times he could win the first place. His most important results in Europe are the 1st place in fullcontact-kickboxing Euro-Cup in International Professional Kickboxing League in 1997 and the 1st place at the European Championships in breaking contest in Global Taekwon-Do Federation in 1998.
